The name behind much of the dance content Australia has watched over the past decade.
Sean Higgins is a director, filmmaker and creative director, and the founder of Shotography. Fourteen years in film and live entertainment have taken him from the camera to the whole picture: directing live concerts, designing lighting and screen content for the stage, and leading creative on campaigns and visual albums.
He has worked with Tones and I, Jason Derulo, Delta Goodrem, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Adam Lambert, Dannii Minogue, Ricki-Lee, The Veronicas and Cyndi Lauper, and with the choreographers, companies and dancers who make up Australia's dance industry — where, if you've seen the work, you've probably seen his.
What sets the work apart is a fluency in both languages. Sean shoots, cuts and directs with a choreographer's sense of timing, and builds stage and screen content with a filmmaker's eye, so movement reads the same whether it's on a phone, a cinema screen or a twenty-metre LED wall. Increasingly that extends into AI-integrated pipelines — using new tools to move faster from treatment to finished frame without losing the craft — and into software: plugins for videographers and editors, built from fourteen years of knowing exactly where the workflow hurts. Photography, where the job calls for it, is still part of the kit.
